The one corner of the house that had the highest level of moisture was right where the water was pooled next to the foundation. This makes it ideal for kitchens AND it is allowed over cork. It clicks together with a tongue and groove just like laminate, so I think the joints would perform the same. Luckily we only had a problem with a couple of planks, and those were minor. I live in Texas and homes on concrete slabs. We are on the process of building our own house and the builder said the floor will be laminate. We have had other hardwoods and laminates that held up for years. I have 1 correction. It definitely has a more plastic-y feel and sound than laminate and hardwood. The tile must be FLAT and EVEN. Our high moisture was due to poor drainage in the yard, which we fixed. This reduces the chances that a chemical reaction would occur. Take home samples, step on them, get them dirty, and try to scratch them before deciding. The huge piano was the thing that worried me the most, but we used boards to protect the floor as we moved it in. A full bath might need the tiles to remain...but that is a personal choice. We’re looking to replace our entire downstairs, stairs, and upstairs hallway bathrooms and laundry room. I find this curious. It would be awesome if I could avoid spending thousands on the sealing. If you are OK with a regular laminate and don't mind it deteriorating in 3-7 years, you can always use a regular laminate that is lain straight over top of the cork.
